Pen Assistant MVP

Why are productivity systems bad?

They’re overwhelming! They kind of drown you with minutiae. You usually “know” what you need to do, and are avoiding it for other reasons.

Like currently I need to do chores, and rent a boat for a vacation, along with get my friend to buy flights and call my grandmother. I know all the tasks I have to do, I’m just not making time for them.

You usually end up spending more time on the system than you do on the thing.

But not having a productivity system has downsides

There’s no way around it, things slip through the cracks. You forget how much stuff you have to do, and the due dates attached.

You forget birthdays. You’re not your best self.

What about note taking?

Note-taking is generally useless, the act is useful, the ideas can be useful, but in general it’s a fun activity that’s not necessary.

How does note taking and productivity differ?

There’s a fuzzy difference here. Note taking is about knowledge management, productivity is about goal management. With LLM’s, knowledge is easy and goals and action are currently the rarity.

What’s amazing about a pen and paper?

  • The fluidity of thought (can transition from words to diagrams seamlessly)
  • No distractions, you can only output

So what’s the ultimate system?

It’s seamless. It integrates with your daily life. It’s proactive, it tells you what’s going on. It’s omniscient. It’s with you all the time.

What does this really mean?

Google Glass. That’s the ultimate form factor for keeping track of what you have to do. Vision, audio, all processed automatically.

What edge do I have?

Making it open source from the start. Completely open. No business behind it.
